LED Strip Power Supply, Voltage Drop & Feed-Zone Planner

Calculate strip watts, minimum driver capacity, round-trip feeder drop and manufacturer-limited feed zones without guessing a universal injection distance.

How large should the LED-strip driver and feed plan be?

Start with the exact data-sheet W/m and maximum single-run length. Check driver capacity and feeder-pair voltage drop separately; add feed zones whenever the manufacturer run limit is exceeded.

Method

Load = length × W/m × utilization. Current = load ÷ voltage. Feeder drop = current × two-way conductor resistance. Feed zones = round up length ÷ manufacturer maximum single run.

Important limitation

The feeder calculation does not model proprietary copper traces inside the strip. Cable ampacity, fuse protection, mains wiring and statutory compliance need the exact product documents and a qualified electrician.

Why feed zones use the product data sheet

Strip copper, LED density, connector limits and thermal design differ. A universal injection spacing would hide the most important unknown, so this planner asks for the manufacturer's maximum single run.
