How many whole plasterboard sheets should I plan?

Calculate net area first, then compare it with sheet grids rounded independently on every wall. Use the higher planning result and verify the exact board and tested wall system before ordering.

Method

Gross walls = 2 × (length + width) × height. Net area subtracts measured openings. Area method adds editable waste; wall-by-wall method tests both board orientations and never falls below the net-area minimum.

Important limitation

Rectangular-room preliminary takeoff only. It does not design joints, framing, access, fire or moisture systems, double layers, delivery breakage or installation approval.

Why the two methods can disagree

Area division assumes fragments combine perfectly. Real walls force whole rows and columns, while openings only save sheets when the cut pieces are genuinely reusable. The visible delta is a planning warning, not proof of waste.
