先合計每組 camera 嘅 exact average bitrate，再只套用實際 recording duty，並明示 filesystem／metadata allowance 同 capacity reserve。單靠 resolution 或 codec label 證明唔到 retention。
方法
將 Mbps 按 effective recording seconds 轉成 decimal GB；retention 乘 daily write，而 overhead 同 reserve 分開。輸入 post-RAID usable capacity，唔係 drive label capacity。
重要限制
Scene activity、variable bitrate、audio、analytics、firmware、failover、filesystem、RAID 同實際 disk health 都會改變用量。要量度 installed stream，並核對 exact recorder compatibility list。
