Sprinkler Zone Flow, Head Count & Runtime Planner

Turn measured working flow, exact nozzle discharge and a catch-cup test into zone capacity, minimum zones, application rate and per-session runtime with explicit reserve.

How many heads can this measured sprinkler supply support, and how long should each zone run?

Use flow measured at the intended working pressure, subtract an explicit reserve, and divide by exact per-head discharge. Separately convert the catch-cup depth and test time into application rate; static PSI alone answers neither question.

Method

Available flow equals measured flow after reserve. Whole heads per zone are floored; minimum zones are rounded up. Catch depth divided by test time gives millimetres per hour, then the weekly target and session count give runtime.

Important limitation

This cannot prove dynamic pressure at every head, pipe-friction loss, nozzle condition, overlap uniformity, runoff, soil need, local restrictions or irrigation approval. Verify the exact nozzle chart and commission the built zone in the field.
