Speaker, Amplifier Power & Seat SPL Planner

Calculate free-field watts from sensitivity, distance, target SPL and headroom, then reverse-check an entered amplifier and normalize 2.83V labels.

How much amplifier power is required at this seat?

Use the speaker's verified sensitivity basis, listener distance, target SPL and explicit peak headroom. The result is a free-field planning estimate, not an AVR, room-gain or speaker-safety guarantee.

Method

dBW = target SPL + headroom − 1W/1m sensitivity + 20 log10(distance/1m); watts = 10^(dBW/10). 2.83V sensitivity is normalized using entered nominal impedance.

Important limitation

Impedance curves, room reflections, channel loading, clipping and product ratings need exact data sheets and measurement.

How to use the result

Treat every output as a transparent planning ledger. Unknown model data, room effects or site conditions are stop gates.
